Quartz Worktops for Small Kitchens

Our single-slab option fits most galley and small kitchens for £1,920 fully fitted. A compact kitchen benefits from quartz more than most — the seamless, non-porous surface maximises hygiene and usable space in a room where every centimetre matters.

Why Quartz Suits Small Kitchens

Small kitchens demand hard-working surfaces. The worktop serves as prep area, dining surface, and storage zone simultaneously. Quartz handles all three roles without staining, scratching, or harbouring bacteria. It requires no maintenance products taking up precious cupboard space.

Colour Strategy for Compact Spaces

Light colours expand the feeling of a small kitchen. White and pale grey quartz reflect available light and create visual continuity with walls and cabinets. Our Morning Frost or Palmyra colours both achieve this effect.

Avoid dark worktops in small kitchens unless you have strong natural light. Dark surfaces absorb light and visually compress the room.

Layout Options

Galley Kitchen (Single Run)

A single slab up to 3 metres covers one wall. This is the simplest and most affordable configuration. From £1,920 fitted at Quartz Store.

L-Shape

Two runs meeting at a corner. Typically requires 1.5 to 2 slabs depending on dimensions. A single join, colour-matched and near-invisible. From £2,890 fitted.

U-Shape

Three runs, ideal for small kitchens that need maximum worktop space. Three slabs from £3,740 fitted.

Upstand Benefits

In small kitchens, a quartz upstand (typically 100mm high) replaces the need for tiling behind the worktop. This creates a cleaner, more seamless appearance. It also eliminates the grout line where the worktop meets the wall — a common dirt trap. The upstand is cut from the same slab for a precise colour match.

Space-Saving Details

  • Undermount sink: Creates a smooth, wipeable surface right to the sink edge
  • Flush-mount hob: The worktop surface continues uninterrupted
  • Minimal overhang: 20-30mm keeps the profile tight to cabinets
