Quartz Worktop Edge Profiles Explained

Square edge is included as standard with every Quartz Store worktop. It delivers a clean, sharp line that suits contemporary and traditional kitchens equally. Other profiles are available — here is what each looks like, who they suit, and what they cost.

Square Edge (Standard — Included)

A crisp 90° edge with a very slight easing (less than 1mm) to remove sharpness. This is the most popular profile in UK kitchens. It creates a precise, architectural line. Handleless and shaker kitchens both carry it well.

Pencil Round

The top edge is rounded to a small radius (typically 3-5mm). The profile softens the worktop's visual weight without losing its linear character. This is the most popular upgrade for families with young children — the rounded edge reduces the severity of any bumps.

A considered choice for kitchens where safety and softness matter alongside clean design.

Bullnose

A full half-round profile where the entire edge forms a smooth, continuous curve. This reads as traditional and substantial. It suits farmhouse and country-style kitchens, particularly when paired with shaker doors and Belfast sinks. The tactile quality is distinctive — rounded and warm.

Chamfer (45°)

A flat angled cut at 45° removes the top corner, creating a geometric detail. Chamfer edges catch light differently from other profiles, adding a subtle design element. They suit contemporary kitchens where visual precision is intentional.

Bevel

Similar to chamfer but at a shallower angle. The cut is wider and less pronounced. This creates a gentle transition from the top surface to the edge face. It is a refined, understated option.

Choosing Your Profile

  • Modern handleless kitchen: Square edge or chamfer
  • Family kitchen: Pencil round
  • Traditional/farmhouse: Bullnose
  • Transitional: Pencil round or bevel

Process and Pricing

Edge profiles are CNC-machined during fabrication — the same process that cuts your sink and hob openings. The profile is applied to all visible edges for a consistent finish. Discuss your preference during the site visit or when placing your order with Quartz Store.
